In Loving Memory Of Robert E. Burrell, Sr. Saturday, December 4, 1993. Gatling's Chapel, 10133 South Halsted Street, Chicago, Illinois 60628. Reverend Christinia Knox - Officiating, Christ Universal Temple. Obituary: Robert Edwards Burrell, was born February 20, 1934 to Dan and Queen Burrell in Carlton, Alabama. As a teenager he relocated to Chicago, Illinois and was employed with several companies. In moving to Columbus, Ohio he operated a service station and worked in various other jobs before spending seventeen years with the United States Merchant Marines. Upon returning to Chicago, he became known to many as "Mr. B" as owner of Mr. B's Lounge on the Southside. In recent years, Robert was involved in the operation and management of several real estate properties in the Chicago area. Robert was a member of Christ Universal Temple, Chicago, Illinois, Reverend Dr. Johnnie Colemon, Minister. "Bob" made his transition on November 30, 1993. He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Burrell; brothers, Dan Jr., McCoy and W. H.; and sister, Betty. He leaves cherished memories with his loving wife, Loretta; his devoted mother, Queen Burrell; four children from a previous marriage: Robert E. Jr., Roy E., Renita L. and Ronald P.; seven grandchildren: Brandi, Amber, Ashley, Roy II, Corey, Camden and Malcolm; four brothers: Pete (Mattie), Arnold, Freddie, Ronnie; eight sisters: Carrie Ezell (C. A.), Yvonne Harris (Janet), Alice Apkins (Willie), Marri Burrell, Shirley Fahmy (Mahmou), Esther Ellison, Janie Patterson (George), and Myra McCants (Donald); many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Pallbearers: Stanley Jones, Louis Carter, Steve House, Gerald Jones, Michael Jones, Clifford Wycliff. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert Jones, Edward Taylor, Theodis Brunson, James McClory. Order of Service musical selections by Ednarene Smith; Words of Comfort by Reverend Christinia Knox. Interment: Washington Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Gatling's Chapel.
