CARL GUYTON, Officiating --- Page 2 --- Obituary On February 19, 1925, S. L. BROOKS was born to James and Emma Brooks in Melvina, Mississippi. After serving in the United States Navy from 1942-1945, he was honorably discharged in 1945. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1947 and was baptized under the pastor, Rev. D. B. Bishop, New Mourning Star M. B. Church. He was united in marriage to Emma Lathan here in Chicago, Illinois. He was given the gift of peace on August 10, 1986 at 7:00 A.M. He leaves to mourn: a wife, Emma; three sons: Phil, Samuel and Marvin; one daughter, Franscine; a mother, Emma Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Earline Taylor and Levon Johnson; one brother, Alvin Johnson all of Memphis, Tennessee and a host of in-laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
