Taylor Funeral Home. --- Page 2 --- Cora Thelma Burton was the fourth child of John and Susie Burton, born February 24, 1922 in LaGrange, Georgia. Her mother passed when Cora was fifteen. At sixteen she met and married Johnny Beasley; one child was born to this union, Elijah Beasley. In 1943 she married Raymond Strozier and lived in Flint, Michigan during the war while he served in the Army; the family moved to Chicago in 1947 and joined Progressive Baptist Church in 1948. She trained in beauty culture, opened her own shop, earned a GED and attended college; she was a Senior Department Sunday School Teacher for sixteen years. Parents and eight siblings preceded Cora in death, as did her spouse, Reverend Raymond Strozier, and her son, Elijah Beasley. Cora leaves to mourn a sister, Geneva Few; cousins Marion and Teddy Meadows; nephew Tony Strozier; daughter-in-law Theodora Beasley; two grandchildren, Etoi Elyce Beasley and Carlton McKinley Beasley; and two great-grandchildren, Monae Brynn Miller and Caleb Beasley.
