Obituary

Celebrating the Life of Robbie Gavin. Our beloved mother, Robbie M. Gavin, was born on November 16, 1939 to the late Essie L. and Henry G. Gavin in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Of all of the accomplishments in her life, those who knew Robbie would testify that she was most proud of her family. Entrenched in her Mississippi roots, Robbie affectionately raised seven children, four grandchildren and nurtured the growth of many others. Without a doubt, Robbie loved her family and felt a great sense of pride in caring for them. Family gatherings were especially memorable where there was plenty of good food; everyone gathered in the kitchen to fill their plates with the "Lovin" from the oven. One of the ways Robbie expressed her love for life and her family was by traveling with her grandchildren. No matter what, she managed to take great vacations to exotic and fun locations like Hawaii, Las Vegas or to the Caribbean. With the passing of time, those fond memories will never fade. As much as Robbie enjoyed her family and traveling, she loved God more. It was seldom that she would miss a day of reading her well-worn Bible. Robbie will be deeply missed by many friends and at her community church home, Jordan Baptist. On Saturday, February 16, 2013 while sharing a wonderful weekend outing with her daughter Pat, God welcomed Robbie home. Robbie is preceded in death by her parents: Essie and Henry Gavin, husband, James M. Williams, daughter, Vanessa Williams, grandchild, Kevin Gavin and sister, Mary Lee Hughes. Robbie leaves to cherish in memory: two sons: Richard Gavin, Mark Williams, four daughters: Sarah Ann Williams, Patricia King, Wanda Williams, Melanie Ezekiel (Rock), eleven grandchildren: Michael Gavin (Rena), Felicia Williams, Latonya Williams, La'keisha Williams, Eric Gavin, James Gavin, Emmanuel Gavin, Richard Gavin Jr., Ryan Gavin, Drew Gavin and Makiya Marie Williams. In addition, six great grandchildren: Ashley Almazan, Marcell Williams, Ashia Johnson, Rashiara Brown, Ronnell Williams, and Michael Johnson II, two sisters, Annie C. Beavers, Mary Beth Rambo (Arthur Ray), two brothers: James Gavin (Joyce), and Henry G. Gavin Jr. (Annie), a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. Arrangements entrusted to McCullough Funeral & Cremation Services, Chicago, IL and Ford Heights, IL.
